One of the greatest revelations that I ever got from God was that He is my friend. This revelation consumed me for months. I have even studied and preached about it on many occasions. When talking about this subject it is nearly impossible to skip over John 15:11 which says, "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." The last time I taught about this I challenged my listeners to flip this verse around and apply it to oneself. Rather than seeing it as Jesus being the good friend that gives His life for us (which is so true), why don't WE be His friend and give our lives for Him? Besides, He already died for us so the natural response should be that we die for Him. I have preached that message many times and every time it has been anointed. However, today God showed me that it was somewhat inaccurate.
I believe the heart of the message is good and it is a great lesson. In fact, it's good enough to stand on it's own as a devotional. But there is something just not quite right about it.
Want to know what it is? Stay tuned. . . It's gonna be good!
